Marlene Dumas paints Marianne’s portrait for her “Image As Burden” Exhibition

When Marianne curated Innocence and Experience at the Tate Liverpool in 2012, she selected works by some of her favourite artists including two paintings of members of the baader meinhof by Marlene Dumas, and the artist has returned the compliment by painting a portrait of Marianne called “Say It In Broken English”. The portrait is included in “Marlene Dumas: The Image As Burden” exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam. Marianne attended the private view on September 3rd, 2014.”I am so honoured and delighted that Marlene has drawn my portrait and I love it!” The exhibition will transfer to Tate Modern in February 2015.
