Marianne mourns Paris attack with triumphant gig at Bataclan

Marianne was one of the artists selected to perform at the newly re-opened Bataclan one year on from the terrorist attacks, and gave a triumphant performance at the venue last night. “For me, this is an important concert, there are lots of things which I must mourn… through music and through words,” Marianne kicked off the concert with “Tower of Song” by Leonard Cohen, who died this month then launched into “They Come at Night”, which Marianne wrote in her Paris apartment the day after the attacks denouncing the killings; she said writing the song for her adopted city was “the only thing I could do”.
