Kerry Taylor Auction’s to feature items from Marianne’s iconic wardrobe

On 17th of June Kerry Taylor Auction’s Passion for Fashion sale will feature items from Marianne’s iconic wardrobe alongside pieces from the collection of Zandra Rhodes. The auction features some notable items from the last 30 years of Marianne’s career and includes pieces by Dior, Azzedine Alaia, Chloe and most notably Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel. all the Marianne pieces will be on display at the auction house’s Bermondsey premises in the days before the sale. A percentage of the auctions proceeds will be donated to AA.

Highlights include a double-breasted satin jacket made by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel designed for Marianne’s performance at L’Olympia in Paris and a shiny black trench coat worn to the Cannes press call for Marie Antoinette. An Azzedine Alaia leather coat with nipped in waist worn for a shoot with Numero magazine in 2004, A John Galliano suit worn for the taping of her 2005 concert DVD / CD Live In Hollywood and a Dior blazer which Marianne wore on her final tour.

Alex Baddeley, a specialist at Kerry Taylor said the auction is a celebration of Marianne “not only as a musical and cultural trailblazer, but also as a fashion icon, whose personal style resonated with authenticity and defiance. Each piece in this collection tells a story of a woman whose life and art were inseparable from what she wore.”
